The Bethesda casserole ministry is a year-round program that helps the homeless, who are served by the staff and volunteers at Bethesda Project in Philadelphia.
“…Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:16-17
We provide the containers and recipes, both of which are on the table in the narthex of the church, and you provide meals for those less fortunate than ourselves. Anyone can participate and while we mostly have adults engaged in this very worthy ministry, we believe this program makes a great family project: During Lent or Advent, on a rainy day, a holiday/holyday observance, a summer activity - any time you want to involve the children in living the gospel.
“…My little children, let us not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.” John 3: 17-18.
Upon completion of the casserole, just label the lid with the contents and date and put the container in the freezer in the Mechanical Room, just past the restrooms in the church narthex.
Hunger doesn’t take a holiday. Come, join us. Thank you.
