Light is a necessary part of life. It provides clarity and direction so we can make our way. It provides safety and security. But sometimes, especially at this time of the year, we feel burdened by the darkness all around us. God wants us to walk in his light and to make our way through this world, that often seems so dark and difficult to navigate, with him as our guide. God wants to light our way, but we have to choose to walk in his light.

WEEK ONE – Everybody needs the light

In this message we will look at the value of light, especially that it shows us where we should go and the paths we should take. We will look at the reading from Isaiah. God wants us to walk in his light so that we can make our way through this world that often seems so dark and difficult to navigate. God wants to light our way but we have to choose to walk in his light.

WEEK TWO – Light to others as individuals

John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus and points to his coming. Like John the Baptist we as individuals we are to point people to Jesus and prepare the way for him. In this message we will look at how good deeds and acts or repentance point to Jesus as the light of the world

WEEK THREE – Light to others as a community

When John the Baptist is arrested, he wonders if he made a mistake in pointing to Jesus. He wonders if someone else is the Savior. Jesus points to the signs and wonders that he has accomplished that show he is the Messiah. In the same way, as a Church community we are called to bring healing to a broken in a world to point to Jesus who is the true light of the world.

WEEK FOUR – Last minute invitations

As the days grow darker, we’re reminded of how deeply we need light in every part of our lives, physically, emotionally, mentally, and especially spiritually. Without light, we can lose our way, but Christ is the true light who brings hope, healing, and clarity to our hearts. The Christmas story shows Joseph wrestling with fear and uncertainty until God calls him to trust, saying, “Do not be afraid.” Like Joseph, we’re invited to move beyond fear and step into God’s plan. This season, God calls us to share his light with others through personal acts of kindness and invitation that can brighten someone’s Christmas and point them toward Christ.

WEEK FIVE – Christmas

The Christmas season can be stressful and exhausting, but Christmas Mass is an invitation to pause and remember our deep need for light in a world that often feels dark. Light is essential for life, and Scripture tells us that God himself is our true light. Just as Isaiah promised light to people walking in darkness, Jesus came as the “Light of the World” to bring us hope, wisdom, and peace. Whatever darkness we face, whether fear, grief, conflict, or uncertainty, God calls us to step out of it and walk in his light. This Christmas, we’re invited to trust him, seek his guidance, and let his light lead us forward.
